The Invincibles (Arsenal 2003/2004)VIDEO & TACTIC DOWNLOAD BELOW As we discussed in the first part of this recreation, 'The Invincibles' played in a 4-4-2 shape; the go-to formation at the time. This had the potential to morph into an asymmetrical 4-2-3-1 of sorts, with Bergkamp dropping deeper to leave Henry as the sides main attacking outlet. What we'll be looking out for in the highlights sequences of games is: (i) A team that is happy to give the opposition time on the ball in their half (ii) and then break at speed with the ball to punish any mistakes. We'll want both wingers to tuck in, but they'll play very separate roles within the team. (i) One will look to take control of the ball and drive inside with a view to creating chances for team-mates á la Robert Pires. (ii) The player occupying the Ljungberg role will mainly look to be an attacking threat through his direct off the ball movement - arriving at the back post hungry for any leftover goal-scoring opportunities. The movement down the left side of the pitch will be key to making or breaking this tactic. it can be difficult to replicate the Henry role in Football Manager; This can be helped however by players possessing certain PPMs (Player's Preferred Moves) which is something we'll focus more on throughout the development of this blog.
